Zune problem with RSS feed

Friday, March 20th, 2009

A problem has be reported by a reeplayer named Andrew about syncing up the reeplay library to his Zune. He found the solution by him, self and we’re posting it here in case someone alsse has the same problem.

Problem: synch with Zune doesn’t work by click-and-drag, and it doesn’t work by manually entering in the URL where it says add podcast in the Zune software.

Solution by Andrew: go to whichever playlist you would like to have on the device and click the RSS button.  When the screen loads it asks which application you would like to use to subscribe to this podcast.  Instead of using this feature, I copied the URL at the top, which ends in .rss, and pasted in into the window that appeared after I pressed the “add a podcast” button.  Press Subscribe.  It will then ask for the username and password for reeplay.it.  I think it only asks for this the first time.

Problem with blank screen on Wii

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

A problem has beeen reported that may sometime cause a blank screen on the Wii when visiting Reeplay.it. Deleting the cookies doesn’t work, as a clearing of the cache is needed. Here is how to delete all saved data on the Wii, which will solve the problem:

***WARNING*** this will cause all your favourites to DISAPPEAR.
So, if you need to perform this operation make sure to save/write down the URLs of your favorites in order to be able to re-enter them later.

  • go to the wii system menu by clicking the wii button at the bottom left corner of the screen
  • go to "data management" ("gestione dati" in italian)
  • go to "saved data" ("dati salvati" in italian)
  • go to "wii"
  • select "internet channel" ("canale internet")
  • and then "delete" ("cancella)

Reeplay overhaul and new supported services!

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

As you may have noticed from the homepage, our bold developers have been working on reeplay. New home and contacts page are only the visible part of it: general performance has been improved, better video rollover controls added, and now Reeplay.it supports better IE (though probably it still gives its best with firefox or safari). The Wii and iPhone interfaces have been improved.

Also, now Reeplay.it supports: vimeo.com, 5min.com, qik.com (very nice tool for your cellphone streaming videos, we love that).

As per your requests, we’re working on the support for fora.tv, traileraddict.com and apple.com’s trailers. We’ll let you know when they’re fully working.

Reeplay could be down in the evening

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

This time Reeplay is REALLY going to be moved to new servers (US west to east coast, I believe. not that it matters to anyone except our sysadmins) in order to improve the service to our european users. As already announced last week, our servers could experience some downtime (probably this evening) and you might find your favorite video storage and media replay center offline. Briefly, hopefully. Sorry about that.

iPhone bug fix

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Last week we discovered that access to reeplay through www.reeplay.it used to cause a javascript problem, serving an empty page. This has now been fixed. Sorry about the inconvenience, which may have affected some of our iPhone users.

Replay is still in its developement stage, so please keep informing us by writing to support@reeplay.it when there’s something that doesn’t work for you.

Information wants to be free

Monday, September 29th, 2008

"Information wants to be free" is a sentence famously pronounced by Stewart Brand at the first Hackers’ Conference in 1984, and has since become the motto of the Free Content movement.

It probably refers to the idea that putting restraints to information is not only wrong (because for culture and society to grow and prosper, the access to information should be granted to all at no price) but useless, because there is no way to stop information from flowing freely.

One of the main revolutionary concepts of the digital age is that now information is made of bits and does not need atoms to propagate. It’s another way that information wants to be free: actually it wants to  be freeD from physical supports: being able to transfer text, music and video through the Net is useless, if the piece of information that’s been downloaded has to be stored on a physical support.

This is one of the goals of Reeplay: freeing you from the burden of storing content, from the pain of having to remember what content you want to take with you, and letting you access all your saved video content on any platform, at any time.
Because, as the declining sales of DVDs and the premature death of BluRay disc demonstrates, support is dead.

It is true, though, that we are still dependant on hardware. And we will be until the moment when all technological supports will be made useless by the disappearance of hardware and/or its absorption in the world around us.

Doubts? Questions? Write to support@reeplay.it

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Reeplay is a distributed company, so there’s no real center or
headquarter in which things happen: everything, from design, to
meetings, to all exchanges of information, happens online and is collectively managed from different countries. But one
thing needs to be centralized, an that is customer care.

If you want to ask for assistance on some issue, whatever info you may need - or care to share with us - you can write to support@reeplay.it (double E, remember that).

Remember that in order to request new features or support to video services you should use the feedback tab, which will lead you to User Voice, our feedback platform.

Also, you may want to subscribe to this blog’s feed to keep updated with all the stuff happening in Reeplay.it, including new features, and to read some incredibly enlightening thoughts about the ever important role of video on the Net and in our future.

Even if you need no assistance or have no requests, please take a moment to let us know what you think of the service, what giot you stuck or could be made easier to understand/use, and direct any question you might have about Reeplay.it to support@reeplay.it
